Review: Pilot FriXion Highlighter

I try to like you Pilot FriXion, I really do.  I've tried, and tried some more, but it just doesn't seem to be working out.  Your fancy barrel caught my eye, and you were quite a treat to hold, but deep down inside I know it isn't going to work out.  I'm sorry Pilot FriXion - I think we should see other pens.

Sorry - that just came out of me, but yeah, I don't like this FriXion Highlighter either.  If you click on the photo, you can see that the eraser smudges the ink when erasing (the gel ink pen is the 0.3mm Pentel Slicci).  It does a fine job erasing just the plain highlighter, which you can see at the bottom of the photo, but what good is that?  The color is too light and tends to pool at the tip as well, so there isn't much that I like about this pen.

I actually like the light color. It's a bad thing for the regular pens, but when I'm highlighting on thick paper or darker paper the light color works the best.

A lot of the greens tend to run too dark, but it I want to color code, I have to really shop around for a good light green.

It's not the best highlighter I've ever used, but I had to come to the defense of the color ;-)

Haha - fair enough Ellie. :)

I agree that light colors are good for highlighting - I prefer them too. I guess it is more the faded shade of green this is - as opposed to a brighter color - that I'm not liking.

It definitely looks like it sucks for highlighting your own writing, but I wonder how it would hold up in textbooks?

When I was in college I would have KILLED for an erasable highlighter... late night cramming sessions = Kata highlights too much stuff!

Interesting concept, although I'll stick to my Sharpie Accents

Kataish,

It works amazingly in textbooks, although it doesn't erase well on porous paper books.

@ellie

Do they erase well from textbooks? I was thinking about getting one of these, but if they can't erase properly it's pointless.
