Review: Uni-Ball Signo DX 0.38mm Pink

If you are new to this blog, or are new to Japanese and micro tip pens, the Uni-Ball Signo DX is the first pen I would reccomend for you to try out.  It is the perfect combination of function and form.  I rank the Pentel Slicci and Pilot Hi-Tec-C higher on my personal favorite list, but I think the DX is a pen everyone can love, while there may be a thing or two about the Slicci and Hi-Tec-C that aren't for everyone.  Start your journey here and you will do just fine.

Now on to this pink DX.  The picture doesn't do justice to how bright this shade of pink is - it is almost fluorescent.  I mention that pink is my third favorite color behind black and blue.  My list of most used basic colors would look something like this:

Black
Blue
Pink
Orange
Purple

What colors do you use the most?

Off topic, but I need pen help. Just received the Zebra Clip-On 4 Color Ballpoint Multi-Pen + Pencil but can't get the pencil lead to advance for the life of me. Maybe it's stuck, or maybe I'm a pen idiot. Any advice? (I took the pencil "sleeve" apart and placed a new lead in it, but still nothing.)

I have never used that model before, but on my Zebra Sarasa 3 + 1, sliding the clip down brought out the pencil mechanism, and then there was a smaller "button" on the clip to push down separately that advanced the lead. So there were two different motions to get the lead out. Not sure if that helps, so maybe try emailing JetPens if it doesn't. They might be able to assist.

Thanks...I did shoot them an email. Something ain't right. I slid the clip down o select the pencl mechanism, and then "clicked" the clip downward (for about a year), but the lead won't appear. There's no other button on the clip, so I think I'm doing the right thing. Will see what they say. I'll laugh if it's me!

It was me. I wasn't sliding the clip down hard enough. DOH.

Hehe - good. I'm glad you got it figured out.

Brown Black is my FAVORITE! First pen I ever fell in love with was my brown black dx.

I seem to have something against green ink, and I don't know why. Maybe it that too often the green is weak...ballpoints especially.

Brown black sounds awesome. Never tried it.

I can't believe it's happened, but this site has turned me into a pen addict too!

I never thought much about pink ink until I read this post. There must be close to a dozen different pinks just among the Hi-Tec C pens. Have you tried many of them?

My favorite color for everyday writing has been the Uni-Ball green-black, but I like their blue-black a lot too.

Lulu, thanks for mentioning brown-black; after I read your comment I went down to Maido and picked up a DX in brown-black. I love it!

Hehe - sorry Susan!

For the Hi-Tec-C colors, I believe I just have the standard pink, cherry pink, and coral pink. The cherry pink is tops!

I found a 5 pack of these while I was in Hong Kong back in August and I love them. The only thing is, two of them are really feisty and aren't writing as well as the other three. By this I mean the ink flow isn't as bold or consistent, which is a bit of a challenge because I use these to take class notes. Any ideas on how to remedy this issue?

Also, I just received Pilot Hi-Tec-C Coleto (purchased after finding so many positive reviews!) and Uni-Ball Signo DX 0.38 mm Violet from Jstationery and I'm really excited about them. My friends think I'm crazy for having such an affinity for nice pens...

Sorry for the stupid question, but what's the difference between the Signo DX and Signo UM.

Nothing - UM-151 is the model number for this pen.
