Updated Favorite Pens List

It is about time for me to update the sidebar with my current favorite pens.  Nothing has changed in the top three spots, but I'm moving the Pilot G-3 0.38mm into the four spot, and the Sharpie Pen into the five.  They replace the Zebra Sarasa 0.4mm and the Uni-Ball Signo RT 0.38mm, respectively.

Here is how the current top five stands:

1. Pentel Slicci 0.3mm
2. Pilot Hi-Tec-C 0.4mm
3. Uni-Ball Signo DX 0.38mm
4. Pilot G-3 0.38mm
5. Sharpie Pen

I'm not sure how long the Sharpie Pen will be there though - I think these new Copic Multiliners I received may knock it off the list pretty quickly.

Review: Zebra Sarasa Clip 0.4mm Blue

The Zebra Sarasa line gives you some of the best bang for the buck in the gel ink sub-0.5mm category. The barrel design is very solid and comfortable, and the ink lays a solid, quick drying line. The retractable point and clip design make this a great pen to carry around at work, or pop in your backpack or purse when you are on the go. I'm always satisfied whenever I pick up my Sarasa.

Updated Favorite Pens Ranking

I updated my favorite pen rankings on the sidebar to reflect what I am using and enjoying the most these days. All of the entries are linked to the post where I review the pen. After repeated use of both the Uni-Ball Signo DX and the Zebra Sarasa Clip, I have jumped them both from off the list to into the top five. They replaced the Pilot G-2 0.38 and the Pilot Precise V5 RT.

I Heart JetPens

My latest order should be in sometime later this week. Here is what I am eagerly anticipating:

1 x Pilot Hi-Tec-C Putimo Gel Ink Pen - 0.4 mm - Black
1 x Pilot FriXion Erasable Gel Ink Pen - 0.5 mm - Blue
1 x Pilot Choose Gel Ink Pen - 0.5 mm - Black
1 x Pentel Sunburst Gel Ink Pen - 0.3 mm - Blue
1 x Uni-ball Signo Bit UM-201 Pen - 0.18 mm - Black
1 x Zebra Sarasa Clip Gel Pen - 0.4 mm - Blue
1 x Pilot Hi-Tec-C Coleto 3 Color Multi Pen - Pen Body - Blue
1 x Pilot Hi-Tec-C Coleto Multi Pen Ink Cartridge - 0.3 mm - Aqua Blue
1 x Pilot Hi-Tec-C Coleto Multi Pen Ink Cartridge - 0.3 mm - Apple Green
1 x Pilot Hi-Tec-C Coleto Multi Pen Ink Cartridge - 0.3 mm - Baby Pink
1 x Pilot Hi-Tec-C Coleto 3 Color Multi Pen - Pen Body - Clear
1 x Pilot Hi-Tec-C Coleto Multi Pen Ink Cartridge - 0.4 mm - Aqua Blue

I am anxious to try out Pilot FriXion Erasable Gel Ink Pen, as well as the Pilot Hi-Tec-C Putimo, although I imagine it is the same as the other 0.4mm Hi-Tec-C pens, only smaller. I am also reworking my Coleto barrels, switching out my 2-cartridge models for the 3-cartridge. I like the size and the rubber grip on the 3-cartridge version much better.

Review: Zebra Sarasa 3+S Multi-Pen/Pencil

I was jonesing to try out this pen even since I saw it in the new arrivals section at JetPens, and the JetPens gang surprised me big time when they included it in my last package. I have to say, the Zebra Sarasa 3+S lives up to the hype. Smooth and consistent ink from all three colors, plus the added fun of a mechanical pencil cartridge inside as well. My wife said again just yesterday how much she loves this pen, and I would have to agree.

Thank You JetPens!!!

If you haven't noticed, I am a huge fan of JetPens.com. Their selection and service are second to none, and I can't praise them highly enough as an online business. It seems that JetPens has noticed my little home on the web as well, and has ever so nicely sent me some sample pens to try out. I had no idea what to expect, but was completely blown away. Included in my care package were the following:

(1) A.G. Spalding & Bros Roller Ball Pen - Maple Wood - Beige Body
(1) A.G. Spalding & Bros Bullet Style Roller Ball Pen
(1) Zebra Sarasa 3+S 3 Color Gel Ink Multi Pen + Pencil - Blue Body
(1) Uni-ball Boxy Roller Ball Pen - 0.5 mm - Black Ink

How cool is that!!!

The A.G. Spalding pens are absolutely gorgeous, and write wonderfully as well with an 0.5mm black gel cartridge. The Zebra Sarasa and the Uni-Ball Boxy are great also, with the Sarasa already disappearing a couple of times into my wife's hands.

Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks to the crew at JetPens - keep up the great work! And, since posts like these often make readers wonder, I have absolutely no business relationship with JetPens other than being a customer and a big fan. When people do things the right way I feel they should be praised, and that's how I feel about JetPens.

I have a very busy next two weeks, so it might be a while before I get the writing samples up for these new models. I have two different pens ready to post later this week, so the four listed above may have to wait until the following week. Hopefully these pictures will tide you over.

Review: Zebra Sarasa Clip 0.4mm

See all sizes of this photo on Flickr.

I have found myself using this pen more and more since I made the writing sample above, and it turns out I like it better than I originally thought. This is easily one of the most comfortable pens I have used in a while, and the clicking I was explaining above has disappeared over time. I think I may try this one out in different varieties, including the multi-pen model.

Zebra Sarasa Multi-Pen

Now this is cool - Blue, Red, and Black gel ink cartridges, PLUS 0.5mm lead pencil all in one multi-pen? I will defintely have to check this out. JetPens.com offers three different body colors for sale: Black, Blue and White. At $9.00 a pop they aren't exactly cheap, but they do look very interesting.
