Review: Sakura Gelly Roll Fine

I didn't have very high expectations for the Sakura Gelly Roll, but I wanted to try it out since it is so popular. In the end, it's just an average pen for me. My main gripe is that the black isn't black enough, even showing up a bit brown on some types of paper. But it seems that these pens are more popular for their wide array of colors rather than just the black model that I tried out. They are very cost effective though, so you may want to pick one up and test it out for yourself.

Review: Pilot Drawing Pen 005

I thought I was ordering the 05 model of the Pilot Drawing Pen, but I instead I clicked on the 005 model - my mistake! This pen is interesting, but it is so fine and so fragile, it can be used for only very specific things, such as ultra-detailed drawings. I love a fine point pen, but even this one is a bit too fine for me.

Pilot G-3 0.38mm Black

This pen is fantastic. The Pilot G-2 retractable pens are great themselves, but I think this is my favorite of the bunch. I've seen them around for a while now, but kept forgetting to pick one up. The 0.38mm tip writes perfectly, and the barrel design is great. I can't wait to order more of these.

Review: Uni-Ball Vision Elite 0.5mm Blue

The Uni-Ball Vision Elite has been a very popular pen over the past few years, especially prior to the surge in popularity of gel ink pens. This liquid ink model writes wonderfully, although I experienced a little feathering in my line with this model writing on my Moleskine (an example is where I have the arrow, but it didn't show up in the picture very well). Beautifully designed and well balanced, I can see why this pen is so well liked. My only question is - are they doing away with this model? I bought three 3-packs of this pen at Wal-Mart on closeout for $1.50 per pack, with the regular price around $6.00.

Review: Pilot G-2 1.0mm Black

What a pleasant surprise! I'm not normally a fan of wide tipped pens, but I saw this one at Wal-Mart and figured what the heck. The Pilot G-2 1.0mm writes wonderfully smooth, with a solid jet black line. It does take a moment to dry due to the amount of ink being laid down on the paper, but other than that, I was very happy with this pen. I will have to make more time for this one.

Review: Pilot Hi-Tec-C Putimo

This is a great on-the-go pen for fans of the Hi-Tec-C who need a little more compact version. The Putimo comes out to about half the size of the regular Hi-Tec-C, while keeping the same barrel width and style. The lone addition the this pen is a removable loop you can use to attach to various things, such as a lanyard or clip. The tip is the same design and writes just as well as the full size model.

Review: Zebra Sarasa Clip 0.4mm Blue

The Zebra Sarasa line gives you some of the best bang for the buck in the gel ink sub-0.5mm category. The barrel design is very solid and comfortable, and the ink lays a solid, quick drying line. The retractable point and clip design make this a great pen to carry around at work, or pop in your backpack or purse when you are on the go. I'm always satisfied whenever I pick up my Sarasa.

New at JetPens - Pilot Ageless Collection

I stumbled across these beautiful pens last night in the JetPens New Arrivals section. At $42 - $55, they are a bit out of my price range, but I just love the design and was lusting over the pictures.

Socially inept

Up until now of course. I am jumping on the Twitter train, so feel free to add me as a friend either there or on Pownce. User name: dowdyism

I am still figuring things out, but expect pretty much anything to cross the screen at any time. I guess that is the point, right?

Update - I have also added a Twitter feed on the sidebar.
